For this month we concentrated on Hanbo (3 foot stick)

We spent allot of time working from grabs, kicks, punches and with attacks from a variety of weapons.

We also had our 1st outdoor training of the year which was great

For the 1st part of the month we looked at a few different things taken from the Ten Chi Jin Ryaku No Maki, including a look at the various chokes (Jime Waza) and throws (Nage Waza)

We then went to Galway for a days training with Al Butler who was just back from Japan, we spent the rest of the month trying to go over what was shown.

This months training had been given over to almost exclusively to looking at the Kihon Happo.

The only real exceptions where kata that are in some way connected to one of the 8 kata found in the Kihon Happo, for example when looking at Ganseki Nage we also went through Ganseki Otoshi.

Monday – 13.12.10

For this class we went through some Kenjutsu Kihon, Kamae and Muto Dori

Wednesday – 15.12.10

For this class we ran through as many of the Gyaku Waza from the Ten Chi Jin as the time allowed.

Monday – 22nd of November

As ever we began the class with a warm-up and Kaiten. We also worked through Sanshin 5 times on each side as part of the warm up.

The Kaiten session was extended to most of the class as we looked at rolling with various weapons (bokken, hanbo, jo, bo). For the remainder of the class we looked at the basic ways of striking with the Hanbo.

This week we concentrated on going over as much as we could from the weekends Buyu Tai Kai in Dublin.

We continued our look at the Kihon Happo with the final two kata of the set

Tonight we went over Omote Oni Kudaki and Ura Oni Kudaki, working from a punch, grab and with weapons.

Monday, 18th of October

Tonight we started another period of Kihon training, for the next few weeks we’ll be concentrating on the Kihon Happo and Sanshin.

We got through the first 3 technigues forn the Kihon Happo, namely;

1. Ichimonji No Kamae,

2. Hicho No Kamae

3. Jumonji No Kamae

Wednesday, 12th of October

Continuing on with Kihon Happo we covered the next two kata;

4. Omote Gyaku

5. Omote Gyaku Tsuki
